Pentax Unveils New Compact Interchangeable Lens Camera; The K-01

Hot off the press, Pentax USA has just announced information about an all new EVIL or ILC digital camera, the K-01. Like the Pentax Q, the K-01 boasts a very small stature. However, the K-01 is the World’s thinnest ILC camera to house an APS-C sized image sensor; which is a huge enhancement over the Q. This CMOS type sensor offers 16-megapixels of resolution, and thanks to the inclusion of their “Prime M” processing engine, can also handle full 1080p HD video at 30, 25, or 24fps.

The K-01 incorporates a plethora of advanced controls and features that enthusiasts and pros will enjoy, while at the same time the camera boasts user-friendly options like Smart Auto and various Scene modes. Another very impressive feat for Pentax with the K-01 is the camera’s lens mount system. Instead of having to design a whole new mount system for it’s small frame, Pentax has implemented their dSLR K-mount system into the K-01′s compact body. This means you can use any Pentax K-mount lens with the K-01; a very appealing feature to those who already have an investment in Pentax glass.

UPDATED: Panasonic Announces Five New Lumix Point-N-Shoots

UPDATE: Panasonic has just announced that all five of these cameras will be available in early March of this year (2012). Each of the five previews below has been updated with pricing information.

Panasonic has just introduced five new Lumix models for the first half of 2012; the Lumix DMC-FH8, DMC-FH6, DMC-S2, DMC-SZ7, and DMC-SZ1. All five camera focus on size and affordability, boasting industry and Panasonic standard features stuffed into bodies that can fit into the smallest of pockets. These features include high resolution image sensors (14-16 megapixels), iA (Intelligent Auto) exposure control, Li-ion power sources, wide view zoom lenses, MEGA O.I.S. stabilization systems, 3.0-inch LCD screens, HD video capture settings, and much more.

Pentax Announces New Compact Super-Zoom; the Optio VS20

Hot off the press, Pentax USA has just unveiled the Optio VS20, their latest compact point-n-shoot. This model boasts some appealing features, with the spotlight shinning on the camera’s 20x optical zoom lens and Triple SR (Shake Reduction) technology.

Other features include 16-megapixels of resolution, a 3.0-inch LCD screen, 720p HD video recording, Vertical-Shooting features (vertical tripod socket and Image Orientation Shift), and Smart Auto exposure control. All of these features are stuffed into a sleek and attractive body that comes in White or Black.
