Sony Posts NEX Firmware Update

We’ve just received word from Sony that they have released a new firmware update for their NEX-3 and NEX-5 cameras.

Firmware Version 2 for NEX incorporates the the following improvements:

Adds their new 3D Sweep Panorama function
Improves the Sweep Panorama function by enhancing the accuracy of the stitching
in cases where sky or sea occupy a large part of the scene
Reduces power consumption when the camera is off
Reduces start-up time under low-light conditions

Pentax Releases Several K-series dSLR Firmware Updates

Pentax has just released information about a new firmware update for their K10D, K200D, K20D, and K2000/K-m. The actual firmware version depends on which model you have, however they all add just a single improvement:

Improved stability of recording image for some SDHC Memory cards.

EOS 5D Mark II Firmware Version 2.0.3 Now Available

The latest firmware update (v2.0.3) for the 5D Mark II that we reported on earlier this month is now available for download. To recap, this new update adds the following features/improvements:

Adds or changes the following movie frame rates.

NTSC:

1920×1080 : 30 fps (changed – actual 29.97 fps)
1920×1080 : 24 fps (added – actual 23.976 fps)
640×480 : 30 fps (changed – actual 29.97 fps)

PAL:

1920×1080 : 25 fps (added – actual 25.0 fps)
1920×1080 : 24 fps (added – actual 23.976 fps)
640×480 : 25 fps (added – actual 25.0 fps)

Adds a function for manually adjusting the sound recording level (64 levels).
Adds a histogram display (brightness or RGB) for shooting movies in manual exposure.
Adds shutter-priority AE mode (Tv) and aperture-priority AE (Av) mode to the exposure modes for shooting movies.
Changes the audio sampling frequency from 44.1 KHz to 48 KHz.
Fixes
a phenomenon where communication between the camera and the attached
lens is sometimes interrupted after manual sensor cleaning. (This
phenomenon only affects units with Firmware Version 1.2.4.)
