CES 2012 is Upon Us

2012′s Consumer Electronics Show is officially under way, and the show floor is packed with vendors and manufacturers that cover every aspect of the consumer electronics industry; from car stereos, smart phones, to digital cameras.

So far we’ve seen over 40 new digital cameras announced in the last 48 hours! That’s a lot of new information to chew on, however you can visit our CES 2012 page for links to the most recent camera and accessory announcements and previews, along with photos from the show floor. We’ll be updating this page throughout the week, so check back often to see the latest links. 2012 is looking to be a very promising year so far, with some awesome new models to drool over; Canon’s PowerShot G1 X, FujiFilm’s X-Pro1, and Nikon’s D4 come to mind.

Canon Plants Nearly 80,000 Trees in South Carolina and Wisconsin

The holidays are a time for high spirits and good deeds,
both of which are being shown by the folks over at Canon. They’ve just announced that, in a partnership
with the Arbor Day foundation, the company has planted over 78,000 trees in
2011 alone.

“Environmental protection and restoration has always
been a top priority for Canon,” says senior director Bunji Yano. “Our
reforestation efforts with the Arbor Day Foundation have been a great success,
and we look forward to preserving and replenishing more forests for future
generations to enjoy.”

Canon has been working with the Arbor Day foundation since
2009 and has planted a total of 112,330 trees, including a massive undertaking
in the Manchester State forest in South Carolina and the Bayfield County Forest
in Wisconsin.

Canon Earns 30+ Awards for Customer Service, Quality and More

The folks over at Canon are doing
alright for themselves this year, especially when it comes to award
season. They’ve earned over 30 honors this year, including awards
for customer service and product quality.

Canon boasts several awards from
PCMag.com including Readers’ Choice awards for service and quality.
They’ve also picked up honors from Professional Photographer, CNET,
PC World and more.

Consumer products isn’t the only area
that Canon is doing well in. In this year’s competition for Most
Admired Company from Fortune Magazine, Canon was ranked top 5 in two
different groups – Asia/Pacific region and Computer Industry. They
also picked up a top 50 ranking of best Global Brands by the
Interbrand consulting company.

“We are very proud,” says
Canon senior director Bunji Yano, “to have received such
distinctive awards across various product lines, which proves Canon’s
dedication to exceptional quality and innovation.”
