SanDisk and Lexar Say No to XQD and SD Wireless Cards

January 17th, 2012

No-XQD.jpgA few new cards were announced at CES
last week that sound pretty exciting. The new standard for wireless
SD cards
seems to have quite a bit of potential, and the XQD card from
the CompactFlash Association has, on paper, some impressive specs.

Despite the excitement, it seems that
two of the biggest memory card companies around won’t be having any
part of these new cards. Both still plan to support CompactFlash
over XQD. After all, CF cards have a long history and are still very popular.

To add to the decision, Lexar points
out that their new 1000x CF card the company just announced is faster
than the XQD cards that Sony is putting out.
