Olympus has just released an all new firmware update (Version 1.2) for their existing line of Digital PEN cameras that include an accessory port (E-P2, E-PL1, E-PL2). This new firmware adds support for the newly announced VF-3 Electronic Viewfinder with older PEN models. They’ve also added new firmware (Version 1.4) for the their XZ-1 prosumer camera, which is the only non-PEN camera in their fleet to offer the PEN accessory port.
You have two choices for updating the firmware:
1) Simply launch the included Olympus camera
software and connect the camera via USB cable to an internet connected
computer. Choose the Update function from the Camera menu in the
software to apply available updates for camera bodies,
lenses and accessories.
2) Download the software updater from the following link: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_downloads_updater.asp and follow the installer instructions.
With each method, you have the ability to display information related to what the new firmware will apply, prior to performing the update.
