So remember Photovine? It wasn’t that
long ago that Google’s new photo sharing service launched. To be
specific, it was a week or two ago. So, you know, this thing was
brand spanking new.
Why do we use the word “was?”
Because Photovine is already being shut down, along with a photo
sharing app called Pool Party which hasn’t even launched yet. The
company behind the two apps – Slide – is shutting down too. It’s a
pretty significant change up for Google.
One of the biggest reasons for this is
the social media site known as Google+. The company says that these
photo sharing services compete directly with Google+. What’s more,
they don’t compete favorably – Google+ seems to do it all better.
