Windows 8 Will Feature Better Photo Management

There’s a lot going into the upcoming
operating system by Microsoft, but the thing that might best catch
the eye of the photography community is the way Windows 8 will be
handling photos.

Some of the improvements are things
that may not seem like a big deal, but will almost certainly have a
significant impact on the ease of using Windows for photogs. For starters,
Windows 8 will automatically find the correct orientation of a photo
based on EXIF data. When browsing through a massive folder of
photos, that’s a huge help.

File copying is improved as well.
Instead of just relying on the name of a photo, Windows 8 will take
other factors into account, such as size and date modified.

Tamron Launches the "My Winter Exhibit" Photo Contest

The folks over at Tamron have launched
a new photo contest that’s exclusively aimed at Tamron lens users.
Like the recent backyard photography competition, you’ll need to
create an online exhibit fitting a specific theme.

This contest’s theme is fitting for
this time of the year – winter. What you do with that prompt is up
to you, whether your photographing kids playing in the snow, extreme
sports or a particularly interesting snowflake.

The winner will get to choose between
five different Tamron lenses, an 18-270mm all-in-one, a 17-50mm
F/2.8, an SP 70-300mm, an SP 60mm f/2.0 and an 18-200 for the Sony
E-Mount.
